Mapping
This section is coming soon! For this part of my Master’s Project, I’m visualizing transportation access to senior centers in North Carolina.
First, I’m using isochrones to see how many older adults are not within 15 minutes of driving distance from a senior center. Based on this, I will identify which areas of the state have high concentrations of older adults without a senior center nearby.
Second, I’m collecting data on how many senior centers offer their own transportation services. Using maps and data visualization, I will display patterns across different types of senior centers (e.g., public vs private, rural vs urban) in whether they offer transportation services.
The map below displays the spatial distribution of senior centers (marked by red dots) and 15-minute isochrones (marked by the blue shapes around the senior centers). The isochrones represent how far you can drive from the senior center to various nodes on the road network in 15 minutes.
